Shopping for clothes is super emotional and super exciting it’s an adrenaline rush when you find a gem.

STOP…….THINK…TAKE A STEP BACK

Will it cause more problems than it solves??

I’m not trying to rain on the fabulous shopping trip you have planned. By that, I mean that fabulous top, skirt, pair of trousers or dress you have drooled over, fell in love with in a shop and then bought. It may have been an impulse buy or even a walk around other shops for 3 hours and go back and bought it. Has it now caused more problems?

Will you now need another shopping trip?

Yes you will get a new skirt, but now to you need to find a top that matches as the red is not the same shade as the 6 other red tops you have!

Yes you will have those high waisted trousers you have always wanted….. but now you have to find cropped jumper to wear or a blouse that when tucked in still looks just as fabulous to show off the amazing detailing on them .

Yes you have the (almost) perfect dress for your party, but you now need to find a seamstress as the length a little too long. Something you hadn’t noticed when you tried it on, or didn’t try it on as you just had to have it.

Now you’ve tried the dress on with those killer heels you have been so desperate to wear. Is the skirt now a little shorter than you feel comfortable with.

Do you now have an item of clothing that you loved but are slowly regretting buying or hiding it away at the back of the wardrobe, forgotten, unloved and mis-matched?

I have had purple/yellow stripe pencil skirt. it looks better than it’s description, honestly. in my wardrobe for about 2 years, I loved it from when I saw it and I still do, as its such a fabulous colour. However it has taken to up to not that long ago to find a top that would ‘go’ with it. Every time I looked in my wardrobe I would see the skirt, wondered if I would ever wear it or if when I finally did it would still fit

How hard can it be?? well if you have the determination and willing to compromise then it may be quite easy or if what you needs seams an impossible find, do you then find a trusted seamstress to create exactly what you want

By that, I mean that fabulous top, skirt, pair of trousers or dress you are drooling over, falling in love with.
STOP…….THINK…

Every so often have a search through your wardrobe, see if there are anything that needs matching or altering. Take them out or put them at the front, so you don’t forget them. If you are going out on a clothes shop, write a list of what you need to match them with or even take it with you if you need to colour match or avoid a disastrous colour clash.

Do some research first,
Find a seamstress you trust.
Find where you can get the cropped jumpers, may be it’s the shop next door.
Find out if you can try on clothes. Take a top that you want to colour match perfectly, or take your shoes.

Plan your time, if you can try on allow time for it.

If you are confident you can find these easily or already have the perfect match at home then don’t buy it.

Your high of buying will soon become regret or dislike for that top, skirt, trousers or dress and they will ultimately end up in a charity bag.

Take time to think about what you are buying and you will always love it forever.

or a skirt that will complement the shape the top creates?
